老头儿最显著的特点是幽默。我在飞机上看他的书，把我边上的人都笑毛了。举个例子吧，他的discworld的组成是星际中一只巨大海龟驼着四只大象驼着个扁圆的世界，那就是discword。这只海龟叫作A'Tuin，从来没有人知道它是雄是雌，到底要去哪，到底要干什么，于是有很多种世界起源的思潮，其中一种叫做Big Bang（就我们说的宇宙大碰撞），是说A'Tuin是雄性，而他也并不是漫无目的地乱逛，而是在寻找雌性，找到了之后自然要发生big bang（这里自然就不是说大碰撞了哈哈），其结果当然是制造更多小的海龟，各自驼着它们的大象，各自再驼着小些的discworlds。
诸如此类的笑话。
Pratchett 跟 Gaiman 合作了Good Omens一书，当时因为偏向Gaiman，所以老觉得里面很多笑话是他写的，现在才慢慢分清到底谁是谁的。两个人的风格还是很不一样的。那本书里最可爱的是地狱派来的叫作Crowley的demon （他其实是引诱亚当夏娃的那条蛇，原来是很方便地叫作叫Crawly的）对待植物的办法。他养了很多植物，每看到哪个长得不如别人的时候就把那植物拿起来，在其他植物面前走一遍，让它们看清这个不争气的东西，然后把它拿走，再回来把空盆摆在显眼的地方，因此他的植物都十分茂盛。我当时正在为自己不开花的植物们生气，看完了非常想学习一下。当时也以为这必是Gaiman的笑话，现在则改了看法，这十分象Pratchett的套路。

最近看到老头儿好像得了Alzheimer's，实在不愿意相信。头脑那么活跃的人。唉，突然十分地泄气，算了不写了。
